Quinta do Couquinho
respect for the landA RECOGNIZED DOURO WINE CELLAR
Located in the oldest wine region in the world – the Douro – hidden among the hills and valleys, so typical of this area, Quinta do Couquinho extends over 60 acres, 50 of which are under cultivation, where we can find vineyards and an extensive olive grove, as well as almond, orange, apple and fig trees that harmonize all of this idyllic landscape.
Located in the “hot land” of the Douro Superior, in the Demarcated Region, and bordering the Alto Douro Wine Region, a World Heritage by UNESCO since 2001, Quinta do Couquinho is a special place, surrounded by great natural beauty and is, naturally, one of the “terroirs” with the greatest demand in the entire Douro region.
QUALITY
Quinta do Couquinho wine is produced in its wine cellar and ages in french oak barrels to be bottled later on. Our wines are represented by the main traditional grape varieties of the Douro, namely Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Sousão, where up to 200,000 liters of this precious nectar can be vinified each year.
Quinta do Couquinho wines have a superior quality, proven in the various awards and distinctions received over the years and in different latitudes. It is impossible to remain indifferent to these wines which, almost magically, seem to escape from our glasses!

THE EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
It is not only the exceptional quality of the wine that Quinta do Couquinho is known for. Its olive oil, from the centenary olive groves and more recent olive groves that the Quinta now has, is also renowned. The 4 different types of olives that predominate here – Cordovil, Cobrançosa, Redondal and Verdeal – give the olive oil produced a strong and balanced flavor, with notes of dried fruits, herbs and intense color, with a degree of acidity below 0.3%, with a perfect harmony of flavors.
